~ Asheville Boys & Girls Club Gala ~

I had the amazing opportunity to work at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club here in Asheville several summers ago when I was in college as a part of one of my community outreach projects for school. The director for the club, Brian Guengerich, is one of my closest longtime friends and he invited me to come work there for a summer as a day camp counselor. It was an amazing experience that I won't ever forget! I got to see first hand the difference a program like that can make in a child's life.

A few months ago, Brian told me they were going to be putting on a gala event to help raise money for the club here in Asheville and invited me to photograph the event! I couldn't be more excited! Not only was it going to be an amazing opportunity for me, but I was thrilled to be apart of such an amazing cause! Having been apart of the program many years ago, I truly believe in the work this organization does and I couldn't wait to be part of it!

The event took place at the historic S&W Building downtown Asheville and the special guest of the evening was the lovely Gail Devers, who is a retired three-time Olympic champion in track and field for the US Olympic Team! It was an honor meeting her and she herself truly believes in all the work the Boys and Girls Club is doing!

There were several restaurants that came out and provided delicious and beautiful spreads of food! Among them were Chestnut, Corner Kitchen, City Bakery, The French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Nightbell, Lafayette, Chartwells, Limones and many others! It was a lovely evening and I'm happy to say that a lot of money was raised that night for an amazing organization! It was an honor to be apart of it!
