There’s something about golden hour in the Blue Ridge foothills that feels like pure magic. The way the light pours over the fields, the way the mountains in the distance seem to glow — it’s almost like the world pauses for a moment. That’s exactly how Abby and Wes’s engagement session at South Wind Ranch in Travelers Rest, SC felt: romantic, peaceful, and completely them.
From the second we started, Abby and Wes slipped so effortlessly into being themselves. Wes couldn’t stop looking at her (truly, the sweetest thing), and Abby’s laugh lit up the entire evening. I barely had to prompt them because they were so naturally connected — one moment they’d be wrapped up in the quietest, most tender hug, and the next, they were doubled over laughing together.
South Wind Ranch was the dreamiest backdrop for their session. Wide open meadows kissed by the golden sun, tree-lined paths that made everything feel extra cozy, and that stunning water feature that reflected the light just right. We wandered the property, chasing the sun as it dipped lower and lower, and every single corner we stopped at felt like the perfect little pocket of romance.
I always say the best engagement photos happen when a couple is just fully themselves and that’s exactly what Abby and Wes brought to this session. No stiff poses, no pressure to perform… just joy, love, and the quiet sweetness of being engaged.
Golden hour wrapped us up in that warm glow, and the last set of photos (with the light streaming through the trees behind them) are some of my favorites ever. You can practically feel the love in those frames.
Abby and Wes, thank you for trusting me to capture this beautiful season of your life. You two were such a joy, and I cannot wait for all the moments still ahead for you!
If you’re dreaming of your own engagement session, whether at South Wind Ranch or one of the many beautiful spots here in the Blue Ridge and beyond, I’d love to be the one to capture it. Let’s create something romantic, cozy, and you.
